Home & Living / Buying guide
Quick answer. Check the rod or track, the finished drop and the gaps where light may still enter.
See where the light comes in
Close your existing curtains in daylight. Look at the sides, top, bottom and where the panels meet. Dense fabric can reduce light through the panel, while coverage at the edges depends on how the curtain hangs. Decide which gap matters most in your room.
Measure the hardware you will use
Measure the section of the rod or track the panels can actually cover. Check whether a listing describes one panel or a pair. For length, measure from the point where the ring, clip or eyelet will hold the fabric, then mark the desired hem with tape.
Choose a length that works daily
Allow room around a radiator, windowsill or piece of furniture. Longer panels can cover more of the opening if the space is clear. Shorter panels can make the window easier to use but may leave a gap. Compare care instructions if the room needs frequent washing.
